How to write a new grad nurse resume

Treat clinical rotations as real experience — and attach hours

Create a Clinical Experience (or Experience) entry for your rotations and quantify it the way a staff nurse quantifies patient ratios: total supervised hours, the specialties you rotated through, the facilities, and the EMRs you charted in. Hours are the one number every new grad has, and coordinators use them to compare candidates. "720 supervised clinical hours across six specialties" is concrete evidence; "completed clinical rotations" is filler.

  • List total hours plus per-rotation breakdowns for your strongest areas
  • Name the unit types: med-surg, ICU, pediatrics, OB, behavioral health, community

Put your license status and certifications above the fold
